Petition to President Joe Biden:

We call on your urgent and active leadership to support a comprehensive solution to the urgent challenges facing the Northwest's endangered salmon and orcas, Tribal and non-tribal fishing communities, and energy and agricultural sectors. We support a comprehensive approach to restore the Snake River and its endangered salmon and steelhead populations, invest in critical infrastructure and communities, and bring everyone forward together.

In February, Rep. Simpson introduced an ambitious proposal to comprehensively address a set of linked challenges facing the people of the Pacific Northwest. This proposal aims to:

— Restore abundant salmon populations - and endangered Southern Resident orcas -  by removing four federal dams on the lower Snake River in southeast Washington State
— Uphold our nation’s responsibilities to Northwest Native American Tribes that rely on healthy, harvestable salmon populations; and
— Create economic opportunity with significant investments in our region’s fishing, farming, and river communities and essential energy and transportation infrastructure.

We ask for the leadership of your administration to work with Northwest people and members of Congress to support a comprehensive package that protects and restores endangered Snake River salmon and Southern orcas and invests in communities and clean energy infrastructure. Thank you.
