Join 225+ chefs and food professionals to speak up for salmon and communities -

and urge Sen. Cantwell to help develop a plan in 2022 to recover Snake River salmon!

On March 9th, more than 225 food professionals sent a letter thanking Sen. Murray and Gov. Inslee for their recent promise to protect endangered Snake River salmon and asking Sen. Cantwell for her assistance in 2022 to help develop the comprehensive solution Columbia-Snake River salmon need. The signers recognize that “salmon is much more than a fish; it is our most valued business partner.” The letter thanks these policymakers for their past efforts to protect salmon and asks for their “continued leadership at this moment of great urgency and opportunity.”

The letter stresses that action is needed now - in 2022 - to prevent further extinction and to restore salmon abundance in the Snake River Basin in a manner that brings everyone – including farmers, fishermen and other food producers - forward together.

“We need new policies and programs that will provide both fishermen and farmer greater certainty and the opportunity to thrive. Please seize this window of opportunity to develop a comprehensive solution that restores the lower Snake River, recovers salmon, and keeps farmers and fishermen gainfully employed and feeding our communities.”
